Lebanon at the Olympics

Lebanon, the NOK, the Lebanese Olympic Committee, was founded in 1947 and recognized by the IOC in 1948, since 1948 in the Olympic Summer and Winter Games part. 1956 Lebanon boycotted the Games in Melbourne to protest against the Anglo- French intervention in the Suez Crisis. 1994 and 1998 was dispensed to participate in the Winter Games in Lillehammer and Nagano.

A total of 170 athletes were, among them 20 women on. Lebanese athletes have so far won four medals. The first was the medalist wrestler Zakaria Chihab, won the 1952 silver medal in the bantamweight ( Greco-Roman style).

The youngest member of a Lebanese team in 1988 was the float Émile Lahoud, who went to the start at the age of 13 years. The marksman Maurice Tabet was in 1972 at the age of 53 years, the oldest starter.
