Chile at the Olympics

Chile, whose NOK was founded in 1934 and recognized in the same year by the IOC, sent in 1912, 1920, 1924 and 1928 athletes to the Olympics.

A total of 493 participants were sent (including the games before the foundation of the Chilean NOC ). At the Summer Games in 1932 and 1980, and the Winter Games in 1972 and 1980 No athletes were sent.

Youngest participant was the Alpine skier Noelle Barahona, which contested at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006 at age 15. Since there is no start lists for the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, it is not certain whether the Chilean athlete Luis Subercaseaux at the age of 15 years, over 100 m, 400 m and 800 m started. The oldest athlete was in 1952 in Helsinki, the shooter Enrique Ojeda 48 years.

All 13 medals were won in the Summer Games. The most successful athletes with two gold medals is the tennis player Nicolás Massú, along with his doubles partner Fernando González is also the first Chilean Olympic champion.
