Tanzania at the Olympics

Tanzania, the NOK, the Tanzania Olympic Committee, was founded in 1968 and recognized in the same year by the IOC, took part in the first 1964 Summer Olympics. In 1976, Tanzania joined the call for a boycott of the Games in Montreal. At the Winter Games No athletes have so far been sent.

A total of 105 participants were sent, of which nine are women. Two silver medals were won so far, both in Moscow in 1980. First medalist Tanzania was on July 31, 1980 Filbert Bayi, who finished the race over 3000 meters obstacle on the second place.

Youngest participant was 2012 swimmer Ammaar Ghadiyali who went to the start at the age of 15 years. The oldest participant was 37 years in 1988 with the athlete Zakayo Malekwa.
