Vietnam at the Olympics

The NOC of Vietnam, the Vietnam Olympic Committee, was established in 1976 and three years later recognized by the IOC. Since 1980, the State athletes take part in the Olympic Summer Games. In 1984, Vietnam to the call for a boycott of the Games of Los Angeles. Previously ( 1952-1972 ) took only Athletes from South Vietnam ( IOC code: VNM ) part. So far has been waived participation in Winter Games.

A total of 90 participants, including 40 women, seconded. Vietnamese athletes have won two medals, both silver medals. The first medal won in 2000 the Taekwondoin Trần Hiếu Ngan at lightweight, the second won the 2008 Hoàng Anh Tuấn the weightlifting bantamweight.

The youngest member of a Vietnamese team was 1996, the swimmer Võ Trần Trương An, which took at the age of 15 years. Oldest team member in 2008 was the marksman Nguyễn Mạnh Tường 48 years.
