Albert George Wilson

Albert George Wilson ( born July 28, 1918 in Houston, Texas; † August 27, 2012 in Sebastopol, California ) was an American astronomer.

Life

Wilson was awarded in 1947 by Caltech his Doctor of Philosophy ( German as: " Doctor of Science " ) with his work axially symmetric thermal stress in a Semi- Infinite Solid.

From 1949 he worked at the Palomar Observatory. In 1953 he became deputy director of the Lowell Observatory. Later he took up a position at at the Rand Corporation. In 1962 he worked for the journal Icarus.

He discovered a number of asteroids ( including on September 30, 1951, asteroid (10 000) Myriostos ), and was co-discoverer of the comet 107P/Wilson-Harrington.
