Albert W. Johnson

Albert Walter Johnson ( born April 17, 1906 in Smethport, McKean County, Pennsylvania, † September 1, 1998 in Boca Raton, Florida ) was an American politician. Between 1963 and 1977 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Albert Johnson attended until 1923 the Smethport High School. Between 1926 and 1929 he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of belonging. In the years 1933 and 1934, he sat in the council of Smethport. After studying law at Stetson University in DeLand, and his 1939 was admitted to the bar he began in Smethport to work in this profession. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1947 and 1963 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. During this time he led at times the republican faction.

After the death of Mr Leon H. Gavin Johnson was at the due election for the 23 seats of Pennsylvania as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 5 November 1963. After six re- elections he could remain until January 3, 1977 in Congress. In this time were, among others, the Vietnam War, the civil rights movement and in 1974 the Watergate scandal. In 1976 he was not re-elected.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Albert Johnson is no longer politically have appeared. He died on 1 September 1998 at the age of 92 years in Boca Raton.
