Albert Wolfgang of Brandenburg-Bayreuth

Wolfgang Albrecht of Brandenburg (* December 8, 1689 at Sulzbürg, † June 29, 1734 in Parma ) was a Margrave of Brandenburg Kulmbach from the side line ( of Kulmbach - Bayreuth branch ) of the younger branch of the Franconian Hohenzollern and imperial general.

Life

Wolfgang Albrecht was the second son of the Margrave Christian Heinrich of Brandenburg- Kulmbach (1661-1708) from his marriage to Sophie Christiane (1667-1737), daughter of Count Albrecht Friedrich von Wolfenstein to Sulzbürg. He grew up with his older brother Georg Friedrich Karl on in Bielefeld and studied at the University of Utrecht. After his Grand Tour, which took him to France, England and Italy, he entered the Imperial service.

In his military career, he reached the rank of Lieutenant- General. He fell into a meeting at Parma in the attack on the castle Crocetta together with Field Marshal Claudius Florimund Mercy. First buried in Bayreuth, his remains were transferred in 1742 to Kloster Himmelcron where him his sister, the Danish Queen Sophie Magdalene, a monument erected.
