Albín Brunovský

Albín Brunovský ( born December 25, 1935 in Zohor; † January 20, 1997 in Bratislava) was a Slovak painter, graphic artist, bookplate and stamp artist

Training

Brunovský studied from 1955 to 1961 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, including at Vincent Hloznik.

Life

Brunovský taught as a professor at the Art Academy in Bratislava, where he became rector in 1989. In 1990 he retired from academic life to be solely an artist.

Works

  • Brunovský created the last series of Czechoslovakia.
  • He created about 30 stamps between 1964 and 1990.
  • From 1970 until his death he created about 105 bookplates (Etchings: Techniques C3 and C7).
