Albpetrol Sh. A. or short Albpetrol is the national energy company in Albania. The company has its headquarters in Patos.

Company History

Albpetrol was founded in 1992 as a state enterprise and converted into a public limited company in 1998.

On 3 October 2012, the Albanian government signed a sales contract with Vetro Energy, a U.S. consortium, which Albpetrol is privatized for around 850 million euros and go for the next 25 years to the U.S. company. Thus go 100 percent of the shares by the Albanian Ministry of Energy Vetro Energy. Before the sale, the Albanian Government has provided the oil and gas producer, the license to build a refinery and transportation of natural gas.

Petroleum and natural gas production

Albpetrol has 1264 oil fields throughout Albania. This will facilitate more than 135,000 tons of crude oil annually.
