Album-oriented Rock

Album - oriented rock ( AOR) is a product from the U.S. format for radio stations. It is aimed primarily at a male audience aged 18 to 45 years.

AOR is a music- oriented format. Information and news stand in the background. Presentations usually have a strong connection to music. The playlist is oriented rock music and a very broad 1500 to 2000 titles. So there are also played tracks from lesser-known performers and rock music from various directions, current and older pieces are taken into account. Airplay receives a high proportion of music pieces of music albums that are unknown to the general public, were never released as a single and have a long playing time. Transmitter with AOR format can be found especially in urban areas with high density of stations, since you can define by a clearly defined target group from other stations here. Over time, some specializations of the format have developed: Hard Rock / Heavy Rock, Classic Rock and Soft Rock.

Among the well-known AOR stations in Germany include the Rock Antenne, a private radio station in Bavaria.

In Germany, the AOR format is less common.
