Alec Wallace

Alexander " Alec " Wallace ( * 1872 in Darwen, Lancashire, † 1950 in Bolton, Lancashire ) was an English professional footballer who played in the outside left.

Career

He began his career at Blackpool before moving to Ardwick ( Manchester City in 1894 renamed) joined in the 1893/94 season. In 1894 he moved together with his team-mates Mitchell Calvey, Archibald Ferguson and Tom Little to Baltimore Orioles FC in the newly formed American League of Professional Football. Most teams were founded by owners from the National Baseball League as a counterweight to American Football Association and the coach came, if they were not player-coach, most of the associated baseball teams. The Orioles had a football coach and imported players and so won the game easily. The U.S. government threatened the League to investigate the use of foreign football professionals. Given the threat of the weak visit and the displeasure of the owners to support the League continued to the league disbanded soon.

After returning to England, Wallace could find to 1897 no more commitment, as Tom Little was forgiven at Manchester City. In 1897 he signed a contract with Small Heath, but due to the long break, he came only twice to use and he moved to Hereford Thistle, a club outside the English league system.

He died in 1950 in Bolton, Lancashire.
