Aleksandar Janković

Aleksandar Janković (Serbian Александар Јанковић, born May 6, 1972 in Belgrade ) is a former Serbian football player and current coach.

Playing career

As a player, Janković was initially for Red Star Belgrade FK active, before moving to Bonnyrigg White Eagles to Australia. After that, he was still playing in France for AS Cherbourg and the FC Pau. In Pau, he played for the first time under his later fellow coach Slavoljub Muslin. At the age of 28, he had to quit because of a serious knee injury his career with the Kansas City Wizards.

Coaching career

Until his first head coaching job Janković was always the assistant coach of Slavoljub Muslin. He followed him first to FK Red Star Belgrade, where he twice won the championship and Cup with him once. Even with Levski Sofia could both win the domestic double. After Belgrade graduated two less successful seasons, they undertook the coaching team again and again, the club won the league title. Furthermore Janković worked as an assistant coach of Muslin at Metalurh Donetsk, SC Lokeren and Lokomotiv Moscow. On 3 July 2007, the Serb initially assumed office as the Scout FK Red Star Belgrade. A few months later he took over the post of head coach of the dismissed Milorad Kosanović. After the 2007/ 08 season was Red Star again win a national title and Janković was replaced by the Czechs Zdenek Zeman. After a brief engagement as a talent scout for the Serbian national football team he coached from April to October 2009, the Belgian first division club SC Lokeren, where he has twice served as an assistant coach.

Following the resignation of Robert Prosinecki, Janković was on 21 August 2012 squad FK Red Star Belgrade.

Aleksandar Janković is married and has two children. His father Dobrivoje " Bobi " Janković is a well-known sports journalist in Serbia.
