Aleksandr Mitrofanovich Levin

Alexander Mitrofanovich Lewin (Russian Александр Митрофанович Левин; * May 15, 1871, † May 1929 in Zemun ) was a Russian chess master.

Life

Lewin took during his student days early 1890s in competitions in Kiev in part. He had a sensational success with the shared first place in a St. Petersburg Tournament 1900. Though he could not defend his championship lead against Mikhail Chigorin sole, yet proved to be quite a serious opponent. " The Tarrasch ` sche vein is visible in him.
