Alex Fiva

Alex Fiva ( born January 29, 1986 in Newport Beach, California ) is a Swiss freestyle skier. He specializes in the discipline of ski cross. His biggest success so far is winning the ski cross World Cup rankings of the season 2012/13.

Biography

Fiva is a Swiss- American dual citizen. At the start of his sports career, he was an alpine ski racer, but remained without major success. His best finish in a FIS race is a third place in January 2006 in the European Cup, he finished a month later the 30th place in the super combination of Veysonnaz. The last ski races he contested in April 2007, after which he moved to the ski cross freestyle discipline.

His debut in the Freestyle World Cup had Fiva on March 9, 2008 Hasliberg, where it peaked at number 28 and thus also equal to won World Cup points. At this performance, he initially did not match in the winter of 2008 /09. It was not until a year later Fiva began to see the world leaders when he drove in Grindelwald on 12 March 2010 at number 12 the connection. The first World Cup podium finish he scored 19 December 2010 with 2nd place in San Candido; in the course of winter followed by three more top- 10 finishes. On January 7, 2012 Fiva celebrated his first World Cup victory in St. Johann in Tirol. Eight days later, he also won in Les Contamines, which resulted in third place in the ski cross World Cup in the final bill.

In the 2012/13 season Fiva one of the world's most successful Skicrossern. Four times he stood on the podium of a World Cup race, including three as the winner. He was never classified as poor in eleventh place and decided the ski cross World Cup standings with a big lead for themselves. At the World Cup in 2013, however, he could not do justice to his role as favorites and finished eleventh. In the season 2013/14 season Fiva was able to build at the beginning only in part to the achievements of the previous winter. He won two World Cup races, but had to be content at the Olympic Winter Games 2014 due to a back injury with the 31 take a seat.
