Life

Bestuzhev was born the fifth child under five sons and three daughters of the officer, writer and educator Alexander Fedossejewitsch Bestuzhev and a merchant's daughter. His writing career began in 1817 with the first publication of his poems, translations and historical essays in leading Russian journals. In the 1820s, he first published an article under the pseudonym " A. Marlinskii ", which let be traced back to the Marli Pavilion in Peterhof, near which he had begun his first post. 1823-1825 he published the almanac "Polarstern" with Kondrati Ryleyev.
