Alexander Kerr Craig

Alexander Kerr Craig (* February 21, 1828 in Claysville, Washington County, Pennsylvania, † July 29, 1892 ) was an American politician. In 1892, he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Alexander K. Craig attended the public schools of his home. At times, he was also taught by a private teacher. He then worked as a teacher and even in agriculture. He started studying law, but he broke off prematurely. During the winter months he worked as a teacher; yet he brought it up to the school board in Claysville. In February 1865 he joined during the last months of the civil war in the army of the Union. He then worked again in the teaching profession and in agriculture. He was also justice of the peace in Claysville. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1890 the Republicans Andrew Stewart was against Craig in the 24th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. Craig appealed against the outcome of the election is a contradiction. As this has been complied with, he took up his new mandate on 26 February 1892. He could exercise only a few months until his death on 29 July of the same year it though.

Alexander K. Craig is credited with the invention of the counter- part of the day. Supposedly, the 43 -year-old on January 25, 1872 the very first Opposite Day has committed.
