Alexander Mosby Clayton

Alexander Mosby Clayton ( born January 15, 1801 Campbell County, Virginia; † September 30, 1889 near Lamar, Benton County, Mississippi ) was an American politician (Democratic Party).

Clayton held in 1832 the post of judge at the Arkansas Territorial Supreme Court After that, he was from 1842 to 1852 and again from 1866 to 1869 a judge in Mississippi. He was also the 1853 U.S. consul in Havana. He represented Mississippi in 1861 first at the Secession Convention and later in the Provisional Konföderiertenkongress. In the same year he also worked as a Confederate district judge. In 1876 he represented Mississippi at the Democratic National Convention.

He died in 1889 near Lamar, Mississippi, and was then buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs.
