Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg

Alexandra Christina, Countess of Frederiksborg (* June 30, 1964 in Hong Kong as Alexandra Christina Manley ) is the former wife of Prince Joachim of Denmark. The marriage lasted from 1995 until 2005.

Origin

Alexandra Manley was born as the eldest daughter of Richard Nigel Manley and Christa Maria Nowotny in Hong Kong. She has two younger sisters, Martina Bent and Nicola Baird. Her father had a Chinese mother and an English father. Her mother is from Austria. Therefore, Alexandra grew up bilingual (English and German ). Alexandra speaks a little Chinese, but does not consider itself as itself Chinese. It is, as she explained, influenced by the Anglo-American education of the father and the home of her mother, Austria. Alexandra was baptized in Hong Kong by the Anglican rite.

Education and work

Her parents were Alexandra bestowed a cosmopolitan education. Alexandra attended from 1969 to 1982 schools in Hong Kong. After leaving school she studied from 1983 to 1984 at the Vienna University of Economics. From 1984 to 1986 she studied economics in Tokyo from 1989 to 1990 in London.

Alexandra from 1986 to 1989 as a stockbroker for Citibank, Hong Kong and Jardine Fleming, Hong Kong. Between 1990 and 1995 she worked as deputy head of the marketing department of an investment company in Hong Kong.

Marriage to Prince Joachim

Alexandra Christina Manley met Prince Joachim in 1994 at a party in Hong Kong. She married the Danish prince on 18 November 1995. The marriage was Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Denmark. Before the wedding, she stepped over to the Anglican Evangelical Lutheran faith. Within a short time she learned Danish.

From this connection, two children were born:

  • Prince Nikolai William Alexander Frederik ( born August 28, 1999)
  • Prince Felix Henrik Valdemar Christian (born 22 July 2002)

However, on 16th September 2004, the pair had to announce his separation. The divorce followed on 8 April 2005. For the sons they have joint custody. With the divorce Alexandra lost the predicate royal in its title, as this was linked to their marital status with Prince Joachim. Part of the divorce agreement was awarded the title of Countess of Frederiksborg by Queen Margrethe. He is not hereditary. From 2005 to 2007 she was Her Highness Princess Alexandra of Denmark, Countess of Frederiksborg.

Second Marriage

On March 3, 2007 Alexandra Christina married her almost 14 years younger boyfriend, Martin Jørgensen ( born March 2, 1978), a TV technician. Since her second marriage she is not a member of the royal family more and thus lost her title of Princess of Denmark. Alexandra's name is now Her Excellency Alexandra Christina, Countess of Frederiksborg, she calls herself Alexandra Manley Countess of Frederiksborg. She continues to draw their annual alimony in the amount of 1.9 million kroner ( 250,000 euros ), but they have to pay taxes since the departure of the royal family.

The Countess lives in Østerbro in Copenhagen. The two children Nikolai and Felix from his marriage to Prince Joachim live with her and her second husband.
