Alexandre Charpentier

Alexandre Charpentier ( born June 10, 1856 in Paris, † March 4, 1909 in Neuilly ) was a French sculptor and medalist.

The worker's son was apprenticed to an engraver, and learned based on the presentation of medals in bas-relief. 1871 to 1876 he attended the École nationale supérieure des beaux -arts de Paris ( dt: , National Academy of Fine Arts of Paris ) at Hubert Ponscarme. His Relief " Archer " ( Shooter d'arc ) was exhibited at the Salon de Paris in 1879. Charpentier was a personal friend of Constantin Meunier, and created the visual aspect of the cabaret Le Chat noir. He was also the creator of numerous medals with the images of celebrities and designed apartment facilities. In this field of activity Charpentier received a great price the Paris World Exposition in 1900, worked on the Villa Majorelle in Nancy and created an Art Nouveau dining room for the banker Adrien Bénard, which is today in Paris at the Musée d' Orsay. The said museum dedicated to him in early 2008 an exhibition.
