Alfred C. Redfield

Alfred Clarence Redfield (* November 15, 1890 in Philadelphia, † March 17, 1983 in Woods Hole ( Massachusetts)) was an American oceanographer.

Redfield discovered named after him Redfield ratio, which determines the shares of the atomic composition of marine phytoplankton. The research results of Redfield James Lovelock used for the formulation of the Gaia hypothesis.
