Alfred East
Sir Alfred East (* December 15, 1849 in Kettering, Northamptonshire, † September 28, 1913 in London) was a British painter.
Life
Alfred East studied at the Glasgow School of Art, and later he went to France to be with Tony Robert -Fleury and William Adolphe Bouguereau further training at the prestigious École des Beaux -Arts. His romantic landscapes show an influence of the Barbizon school.
In 1906, Alfred East was elected President of the Royal Academy of Arts. Four years later he was defeated by King Edward VII knighted.
