Alfred Groyer

Alfred Groyer (born 8 January 1959 in Villach ) is a former Austrian ski jumper.

Career

His first international jumping denied Groyer, who started for his hometown club SV Villach, on January 4, 1978 in the Four Hills Tournament 1977/78 in Innsbruck. He reached the 39th place. A year later he reached his hitherto best finish with a 18th place in Innsbruck. Groyer belonged to the A national team for the newly Ski Jumping World Cup in season 1979 /80. Already in his first competition on December 27, 1979 in Cortina d' Ampezzo he could jump with 3rd place on the podium. He repeated this success three days later at the opening event of the Four Hills Tournament 1979/80 in Oberstdorf. At the end of the tour Groyer finished 5th in the overall standings.

At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid Groyer reached the 7th place on the normal hill. Shortly after the World Cup he could jump in Lahti once again in the Top 10, reaching the 9th place in World Cup competition.
