Alfredo Giannetti

Alfredo Giannetti (* April 16, 1924 in Rome, † July 30, 1995 ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter who won an Oscar for best original screenplay for divorce in Italian at the Oscar ceremony in 1963 together with Ennio De Concini and Pietro Germi.

Biography

Giannetti started in the mid 1950s as a screenwriter for film productions and wrote in 1953 the plot of the movie drama Curse of Beauty by Giuseppe De Santis. In the following years, he wrote the screenplays for more than 30 other film and television productions. One of the first collaborations with director Pietro Germi was The Red Signal (1956).

For the screenplay for Under smooth skin ( Un maledetto imbroglio, 1959) he received in 1960 Ennio De Concini and together with director Pietro Germi first time the Nastro d'Argento for the best screenplay of Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani ( SNGCI ).

The De Concini and director Germi also jointly authored screenplay for Divorce Italian Style ( Divorzio all'italiana, 1961) was 1962 best not only with another Nastro d' Argento for Best Screenplay, but also with the 1963 Academy Award for Original Screenplay excellent.

At the beginning of the 1960s he was also self- employed as a film director and directed by his debut film every day despair ( Giorno per giorno disperatamente, 1961) more than a dozen other movies like Correva l'anno di grazia 1870 ( 1971), under distinguished actors Mario Brega (day -to-day despair ), Tony Anthony and Annie Girardot ( the girls loaned, 1966), Dalila Di Lazzaro and Franco Nero ( the bandit with the blue eyes, 1982) together.
