Alhagi

Alhagi maurorum

Alhagi is a genus of flowering plants of the legume family ( Fabaceae ). It forms half of shrubs and rare herbaceous plants. The range extends from Central Asia to the Mediterranean and North Africa. They can be used for stabilization of sand and fodder plants.

Features

Alhagi species are subshrubs, rarely perennial herbaceous plants. The stipules are subulate. The change-constant leaves consist of one leaflet. Your leaf blade is entire. The inflorescences are axillary clusters of bracts and continue reading. The calyx is bell- shaped and has five unequal length teeth. The corolla is colored red to purple. Nine stamens are in one group, one growing from this group. The ovary has numerous ovules. The scar is capitate. As fruits structured, perlschnurförmige, not opening pods are formed.

Occurrence

The natural range of the genus includes Central Asia, China, Mongolia, Nepal and the Mediterranean, including North Africa.

The genus Alhagi was erected in 1755 by Abraham Gagnebin in Helvetica, Physico - Mathematico - Anatomico - Botanico - Medica, 2, p 59.

The genus belongs to the tribe Alhagi Hedysareae in the subfamily of the Fabaceae ( Faboideae ) within the legume family ( Fabaceae ).

  • Alhagi sparsifolia Shap. ( Syn: Alhagi kirghizorum var sparsifolia Shap, Alhagi maurorum subsp sparsifolium ( Shap. ) Yakovlev. . ): It is distributed in western Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Use

Sugar excretion of the sheets can be used for the treatment of headache. Some species are good sheet plants / Plants or may well fix sand.
