Alhambra is a city in the U.S. state of California. It is located in the geographical center of Los Angeles County in Southern California and has approximately 89,000 inhabitants. The city covers an area of 19.7 km ².

Due to Interstate 710 and the San Bernardino Freeway is a close transport links to Los Angeles and other cities in the region and further into the Californian hinterland.

Demography

According to the state census of 2010 83.089 people lived in Alhambra. The inhabitants since the prior census in 2000 therefore decreased by around 2,000 people.

Alhambra is one of the cities with the highest percentage of Asians in the United States. Their share in 2010 was around 52 percent. The second largest population group are Latinos, whose number is around 34 percent. European ethnic whites who otherwise represent the majority of the U.S. population, are represented by only ten percent of the urban population. Other ethnic groups such as African Americans are minorities.

The number of households was collected after the 2010 census, 29 217. The gender distribution is noticeable that women are significantly more represented in the population. For every 100 females 97.2 males. The median age of the residents of Alhambra is 39.3 years, which is slightly higher than in most other cities in California.
