Ali Boumnijel

Ali Boumnijel ( born April 13, 1966 in Menzel Sealih ) is a former Tunisian football player.

The Tunisian national team began his career as a goalkeeper for FC Gueugnon, but where he had not a single use. His first professional game, he completed on 20 October 1991, the AS Nancy in a match against AJ Auxerre, which lost its team 3-1. Then he returned to his previous club for which he played five seasons until he moved in 1997 to SC Bastia, for which he was for six years under contract.

He then spent one more season (2003/ 04) at FC Rouen. After the end of this season, he found, however, not least so that he moved due to his now for football players fairly high age, no more French club, who wanted to sign him back to his native Tunisia's Club Africain Club. After the 2006/ 07 season, he finished his career.

National

In the Tunisian national team, he came the first time on 27 November 1991 as part of a game against the Ivory Coast for use. His next international match was five years coming. Just in time for the 1998 World Cup Boumnijel was again the number one goalkeeper, to the then national coach Henryk Kasperczak Chokri El Ouaer gave preference.

This remained first-choice goalkeeper until shortly before the World Cup in 2002. However, he was forced to resign because of persistent back problems. Since then Boumnijel Tunisia 's goalkeeper. Even in the games of the 2006 World Cup, the oldest 40 years player of the tournament was in goal for the Tunisian national team.
