Ali Dara

Ali Iqtidar Shah Dara (* April 1, 1915; † 16 January 1981) was a Pakistani hockey player with the team India won gold at the 1936 Olympics.

At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 Ali Dara was a young striker, who has only been used in the semi-finals and the finals, scoring four goals.

After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, Ali Dara became the first captain of the Pakistani national team. At the Olympic Games 1948 in London he met ten times in seven games into the goal. In the first game for the bronze medal against the Dutch, he scored the only goal in a 1-1 draw Pakistan and also in the replay, which Pakistan lost with 1:4, Ali Dara was the only scorer of his team. Curiously, the Pakistan team had beaten the Dutch in the first round 6-1, including Dara had contributed four goals.

Ali Dara worked after his active career in various positions in the Pakistani Hockey Association and participates in the first Pakistani Olympic victory in 1960 as Manager, after leading Pakistan's selection in 1956 as a coach for the Olympic silver medal.
