Ali Yavar Jung

Nawab Ali Yavar Jung ( born February 16, 1905 in Hyderabad, India, † December 11, 1976 in Mumbai ) was an Indian diplomat and politician.

Life

He studied at Queen's College, Oxford and in Paris in 1927. From 1945 to 1946 and from 1948 to 1952 he was Chancellor of the Osmania University. From 1952 to 1954 he was ambassador in Buenos Aires. From 1954 to 1958 he was ambassador in Cairo. From 1958 to 1961 he was ambassador in Belgrade and was accredited by the government in Athens. From 1961 to 1965 he was ambassador in Paris. From 1968 to 1970 he was ambassador in Washington, DC From 1971 to 1976 he was governor of Maharashtra and died in office in Raj Bhavan of Bombay.
