Aliaksandr Varlamau

Alexander Viktorovich Varlamov (Russian Александр Викторович Варламов, born July 18, 1979 in Voronezh ) is a retired Russian and Belarusian diver. He stepped into the disciplines at 10 m tower and synchronized diving.

Life

Varlamov first started for his home country Russia. His first success was winning the silver medal at the European Championships in 1997 in Seville in 10m synchro competition together with Igor Lukaschin. The duo won a year later at the World Championships bronze medal.

Since the 2002 European Championships in Berlin Varlamov competed for Belarus. There he won two bronze medals in the individual and synchronized diving from the tower along with Andrei Mamontov. His last international medal he won six years later at the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven. Together with Vadim Kaptur he won the silver medal in the 10m synchronized diving.

Varlamov took part in two Olympics for Belarus. In Athens in 2004, he reached number 30 from 3 m board and number 27 from the 10 m tower and the 2008 Beijing No. 21 from the 10 m tower.

He finished his career after the 2009 World Championships in Rome.
