Alice Ghostley
Alice Margaret Ghostley ' ( born August 14, 1924 in Eve, Missouri, † September 21, 2007 in Studio City, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actress.
Life
Alice Margaret Ghostley was born at the station of Eve, Missouri, where her father was working as a telegraph operator. She grew up in Henryetta, Oklahoma. After her high school, she studied acting at the University of Oklahoma. She broke off her studies to concentrate on her theater career. In 1952 she debuted on Broadway, where he played regularly until the mid- 1960s. During this time she was two times, 1963 and 1965, nominated for Best Supporting Actress for a Tony Award, where they could win this 1965.
As a film actress, she already debuted in the early 1950s in smaller television roles. She starred in television series and movies before in the literature filming Kill a Mockingbird as Aunt Stephanie Crawford alongside actors such as Gregory Peck, Mary Badham and Robert Duvall made his debut in 1963 on the canvas. Later, she was still playing in well-known movies like The Graduate, Grease and The Odd Couple. For her portrayal of Bernice Clifton, which she embodied not be from 1986 to 1993 must be in the sitcom husband, she was nominated for an Emmy in 1992.
On 21 September 2007 Ghostley died at the age of 83 years from the consequences of their colon cancer and a series of strokes. Ghostley was married from 1953 until his death on 21 May 2003 with the actor Felice Orlandi. The marriage remained childless.
