Alice in the Cities is a road movie by Wim Wenders from the year 1974. The film is the first part of the movie trilogy " Road Movie ". 1975 followed the second part wrong movement, and in 1976 the third part of the course of time.
Action
The journalist Philip Winter brings a multi-week trip across the USA instead of an article a stack of Polaroid photos with. Financially broke and located in a life crisis, he meets the New York Kennedy Airport Lisa van Dam and their nine year old daughter Alice. The mother trusted him to her daughter, with whom he flies to Europe. When the mother is not as announced a few days later succeeds to Amsterdam, winter driving and Alice by Germany to find the grandma of the little ones. Between the two is something like a friendship developed.
Background
The film was shot in black and white. The shooting took place in August / September 1973 in the United States and Germany (mostly in Wuppertal) instead.
In the film, the singer Sibylle Baier occurs sings her song Softly, which should appear in 2006 on the CD Colour Green.
The work contains a cinematic quotation from The Merchant of Four Seasons by Rainer Werner Fassbinder from the year 1972, because in both films a police officer (both Hans Hirschmüller ) sitting on a police station at a typewriter.
