Aline Valangin

Aline Valanginian, civil Aline Rose Tree Ducommun ( born February 9, 1889 in Vevey, † August 7, 1986 in Ascona ) was a Swiss writer, pianist and psychoanalyst.

Life

Aline Valanginian was the first daughter of Jules Ducommun (1859-1938), the son of Nobel Peace Prize Élie Ducommun, and his wife Aline, born Merz ( 1867-1921 ). 1893 the family moved from Vevey to Bern. In 1904 they continued their education as a pianist at the Conservatory in Lausanne; but this activity could exert a hand injury only for a short time. She then worked for several years in Alsace as a private piano teacher and translator.

In 1915 she moved to Zurich, became a student and analysand of Jung and soon began himself to work as a psychoanalyst.

She was 1917-1940 married to Vladimir Rosenbaum ( 1894-1984 ), a Swiss lawyer and antiquarian Russian- Jewish origin. Together with him, they led in Zurich an artist salon. For this she earned in 1929 in Comologno in the Onsernone valley Palazzo La Barca. Both in Zurich as in Ticino she offered temporary shelter emigrants, such as Ignazio Silone, Ernst Toller and Kurt Tucholsky. In her novel village on the border (written 1946) described them ( too ) critical the situation of a village on the Swiss border during the war in conflict with the Swiss asylum policy; the book could be published only in 1982.

In 1933 she met the composer Wladimir Vogel ( 1896-1984 ), and be moved with him in 1937 only to Brussels, then to Paris, then to Ticino. Since 1954, she lived in Ascona, where they anfertigte especially poems and tapestries and stricken in years died in 1986.
