Aliu Mahama

Alhaji Aliu Mahama ( born March 3, 1946 in Yendi, Northern Region, † November 16, 2012 in Accra ) was a Ghanaian politician ( NPP). Between 2001 and 2009, held under President John Agyekum Kufuor Mahama, the Office of the Vice President.

Training

Mahama studied at the Government Secondary School in Tamale 1960-67 and here achieved the Advanced Level Certificate. After graduating, he enrolled at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi one. Between 1967 and 1971 he worked on his bachelor's degree in Building Technology ( Building Technology).

Career

Alhaji Aliu Mahama started his career in the regional office in Bolgatanga a state construction company ( State Construction Corporation) as an engineer in the years 1972-75. He was appointed assistant to the region Alma Angers and was transferred to the office of the company in Koforidua ( 1975-1976 ). In June 1976 he was himself Regional Manager of Northern Region in Tamale and retained the post until August 1982.

In 1982 he founded his own engineering and construction company that Lidra Limited, where he was managing director. In 1996 he became chairman of the Association of Designers in the Northern region until the elections to the parliament in 2000.

In 2001, Mahama was appointed by President Kufuor to the Vice President for the legislative period 2001-2004. After the elections in 2004 Mahama was again as Vice President for the current second and final term of President Kufuor.

Various local positions had Mahama also held. Among them, for example, was serving as an advisor in the Yendi District Council in 1978 and election to the council member of the Tamale Municipal Assembly, in 1990.

Mahama was a founding member of the football club in Tamale, the Real Tamale United Football Club.

Family, kinship

Mahama was married to Hajia Mahama Aliu Ramatu (* October 15, 1951 ), a subsidiary of Imoru Egala, a former Foreign Minister of Ghana.
