Alive (Pearl Jam song)

Alive is a song by the grunge band Pearl Jam from 1991. It was the first single of the band. The piece also appeared as the second song on the album Ten and one of the most known songs of the band and the grunge era.

Formation

The piece was originally called Dollar Short and was the rhythm guitarist of the band, Stone Gossard, written. It was included on a demo tape, which hoped to find a singer the band. Eddie Vedder had obtained the tape and wrote a fictional text, which processed some personal experiences. It was about the time when he was told that the man he knew as his father, this was not in reality.

The song was recorded on 29 January 1991 in London Bridge Studios, Seattle, Washington, at that time still under the original band name Mookie Blaylock. The long guitar solo by Mike McCready was taken in June 1991 in Ridge Farm Studios, Dorking, England. Mixer Tim Palmer was McCready 's solo after several attempts remodel. Finally, he took it on in one piece.
