Alliance 90

90 The Alliance was a coalition of citizen movements and opposition groups in the GDR, which was created during the turn.

History

On 7 February 1990, the New Forum, the Initiative for Peace and Human Rights ( IFM) and democracy decided to form the Association Alliance 90 list for the election of the People's Chamber now. In the following first and last free parliamentary elections in the GDR on 18 March 1990, the coalition achieved 2.9% of the vote and 12 seats. Its far best result achieved Alliance 90 in the district of Berlin with 6.3%; in the other districts scattered the results between 1.6% and 3.8% in the district of Neubrandenburg in the district of Potsdam. The eight members of the Green Party in the GDR together they formed the group Alliance 90/Grüne.

In the East German state elections on October 14, 1990 differently composed electoral alliances reached a place in all diets except in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern, where the New Forum did not participate in the electoral alliance. Part of the Brandenburg Land Association argued against a merger with the Greens, including Matthias Platzeck, Günter Nooke, Ute Platzeck, Peter pupils, Manfred Kruczek and Gerd Gebhardt. However, these could not prevail and founded the Citizens Alliance - with Günter Nooke, Matthias Platzeck and Wolfgang Pohl at the top.

The party Alliance 90/The Greens in Saxony was born on 27 September 1991 and a half years prior to the merger at the federal level.
