Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget ( ASEA short ) was a Swedish large companies in the field of electrical engineering. 1988, the Group merged with the Swiss energy technology company Brown, Boveri & Cie at ABB ( Asea Brown Boveri ), headquartered in Zurich ( Switzerland ). The ASEA presented with the Sweden Percy Barnevik the first CEO of ABB.

The company was founded in 1883 as Elektriska Aktiebolaget in Stockholm. In the first half of the 20th century, developed a technique for high-voltage direct -current transmission. The company also worked on the development and production of electric locomotives, trams and trains.

After the seizure of power by the National Socialists in Germany in 1933 the logo was changed, which mainly consisted of a swastika until then.
