Alois Dessauer

Alois Dessauer (born Aron Baruch Dessauer, born February 21, 1763 in Gochscheim ( Kraichtal ), † April 11, 1850 in Aschaffenburg ) was a former Electoral Mainz court banker and Militäradmodiator (Army supplier).

Life

He was as Aron Baruch, son of the Jewish community leader Baruch Dessauer († March 17, 1772 Gochscheim / Baden) and Mindel Seligmann († February 20, 1795 Gochscheim / Baden ), daughter of Nathan Seligmann from Gochscheim / Baden born. He came in 1792 to Königshofen ob der Tauber and married Behlasina ( Belusina, hatchets ) David (* June 25, 1775 Königshofen † June 11, 1819 in Aschaffenburg ), daughter of Joseph David († 1824), citizen and merchant in Königshofen, and the Henriette Sontheim. His grandfather was Jacob David, "the Rich " († 1783), citizens of King Mayrhofen.

1798 came the merchant and former Chur Main Zische court banker and Militäradmotiator with his family to Aschaffenburg. Dessauer was said to have best relations with the Prince Primate Karl Theodor von Dalberg; yet the social rise began only after his baptism in 1805. On August 23, 1805 Aron Baruch, his wife Behlasina and 3 children in the parish church of St. Agatha were baptized in Aschaffenburg. On receipt of a Christian name, the first letter was often maintained, it was from Aron: Alois, his wife was named Anna Elisabeth and the children were given the names Joseph, George and Karl Friedrich. The fourth child Franz Johann was baptized Catholic at birth.

On September 5, 1805 he paid 15 florins and 34 cruisers citizens entry fee and received on the same day the citizens acceptance of Aschaffenburg. Dessauer was now active in various industries, such as as a broker-dealer, stone table and fine ink manufacturer and founded in 1810 in Aschaffenburg's Buntpapierfabrik. Friedrich Ernst Joseph and his brother Alois Joseph Dessauer were 1853 holders of Alois Dessauer'schen Buntpapierfabrik, later Buntpapierfabrik AG in Aschaffenburg.

Joseph Dessauer was adopted on 9 August 1826 as citizen and merchant in Aschaffenburg. On March 22, 1849, he was promoted to Major and commander of the Landwehr Battalion Goldbach.

Georg von Dessauer

Karl Friedrich Dessauer

He played a significant role in the history of Aschaffenburg Buntpapierfabrk and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Lower Franconia and Aschaffenburg. On September 20, 1824 he married in Vaals (Netherlands) Amalie Catherine ( Carolina) Theresa Feldmann (* August 15 1803 Eupen, † January 14, 1879 in Aschaffenburg ), daughter of Friedrich Karl Joseph Feldmann and Mary Catherine Julie Vercken. From this marriage six children were born.

Franz Johann Dessauer

(* June 17, 1805 in Aschaffenburg, † October 26, 1872 Vienna)

On the very day of his birth the youngest son in the parish church of St. Agatha was baptized Catholic. On October 19, 1829, he asked as Handlungscommis to admission to the examination for the merchant, which was adopted on 26 October 1829 and these citizens in Aschaffenburg. He married on November 25, 1829 Alberta ( Berta ) Catherine Theresa Molitor (* April 5, 1810 Aufenau, † May 10, 1888 in Aschaffenburg ), daughter of county and city magistrate Dr. Cosmas Damian Hatardus Molitor ( 1785-1852 ) and Elisabeth ( Lisette ) Franziska Katharina Merz ( 1786-1856 ), who bore him 13 children.

He retired in 1850 from the " Alois Dessauer'schen Buntpapierfabrik " and founded in 1851 the " Franz Dessauer'sche Buntpapierfabrik ", the later Buntpapierfabrik AG Aschaffenburg. He also worked as a royal Spanish and Portuguese Consul and operated a " general agency for emigrants to America " (via Le Havre).

His final resting place he found in the family grave in the old town of Aschaffenburg cemetery.

The son of Philip Dessau (4th child) followed in the footsteps of his father.

A grandson of Franz Dessau was born in Aschaffenburg on July 19, 1881 biophysicist and engineering professor Dr. Friedrich Dessauer. He was not only a leading x-ray pioneer, but also a member of parliament (1924-1933) and honorary citizen of the city of Aschaffenburg. The former secondary school named after urde Dessauer and now bears the name of Friedrich- Dessauer -Gymnasium ( Aschaffenburg ).
