Philip Dessau ( born June 20, 1837 in Aschaffenburg, † August 19, 1900 in Aschaffenburg ) was Royal. Bayer. Commerce and founder of the White Paper and cellulose factory Aschaffenburg (later " Aschaffenburg pulp Werke AG ", " paper Waldhof -Aschaffenburg AG " today "SCA " - "M -real " - " Sappi ").
Life
Philip Dessau is a son of Francis John Dessauer and Alberta ( Berta ) Catherine Theresa Molitor (* April 5, 1810 Aufenau, † May 10, 1888 in Aschaffenburg ). He married on 18 November 1864 in Aachen / November 19, 1864 in Aschaffenburg Elisabeth Maria Karoline Vossen ( * May 6, 1843 Aachen, † March 30, 1920 in Aschaffenburg ), daughter of colors manufacturers Franz Daniel Vossen ( 1807-1899 ) from Liège and the Cöelestine Maria Theresa Louise Vinckenbosch (1820-1896) of Tienen. From this marriage 11 children were born.
He has received numerous awards and honors. In Aschaffenburg newspaper from 1872 states: The undersigned (municipality ) had under yesterday the honor of his Lordship, Mr. Philipp Dessauer, factory director in Aschaffenburg, on the occasion of its large and well-known merits inclusion as the first honorary citizen of the community dam to: submit and this will bring pleasure to general knowledge. Dam, 18 November 1872. Municipality. Bleistein. Mayor.

On August 19, 1900 died of Commerce Philip Dessau after severe suffering. His final resting place he found in the family grave in the old town of Aschaffenburg cemetery.
Professional career
Philip Dessau came after the visit of the high school in 1852 in the paternal Buntpapierfabrik, which he served as director from 1866.
In 1872 he founded the AG for papermaking machines with regard to the White Paper deficiency, which made itself felt after the war of 1870 /71. With a steam engine ( 24 hp ), 56 smoothing and 16 embossers, two roll printing machines, 15 embossing rollers, a cutting machine, three pumping stations, 75 engraved copper rollers for printing and 56 for pressing, seven cast steel for pressing and several color mills began in 1875 production. 1879 was followed by the purchase of four Färbmaschinen and a Friktionskalander for continuous paper, 1888, the acquisition of an additional steam engine (120 hp), three major Friktionskalandern, 18 Roll smoothing, a double color machine and a lithographic flatbed press (Report of the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Aschaffenburg and Lower Franconia ).

Progeny
A son was Dr. Hans Dessauer sen, who joined in 1900 as the successor to the Directorate of the company. The youngest son was a professor Friedrich Joseph Hubert Maria Dessauer. Grandchildren were Dr. Hans Dessauer Jr., who went to America in 1936 because the Nazis prevented its entry into the company because of his Jewish ancestry, and his brother, producer, art collector and Professor Guido Dessauer. A granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Read Schleicher, was from 1962-1974 Member of the Bavarian Parliament. The MEP Ursula Schleicher is a great-granddaughter.
