Alone with Everybody

Occupation

Alone with Everybody (English: With All alone) is the solo debut album by the British rock singer Richard Ashcroft. It was released on 26 June 2000, reached # 1 on the UK Albums Chart and achieved platinum status. It is characterized by a continuous complex songwriting and country -esque, folk liable Britpop with selective psychedelic elements.

Background

Richard Ashcroft was the first of the former Verve member, who one year could come up with a new album after the breakup of The Verve before. He was supported by former Band drummer Peter Salisbury. Ashcroft had already begun in the final stages of the band existence with mounts for a solo album. The images were accompanied by various mishaps. First, there were several issues regarding the contract, which demanded five albums by The Verve and now should be transferred to Ashcroft. Second, disappeared during production all recordings so that Ashcroft had to import all completed to date new songs.

Description

With A Song for the Lovers, the album starts with a song that already 1995/6 was taken at The Verve sessions and was shortlisted for the Urban Hymns. At the time, still as a rock song with a heavily distorted guitar, the song for Alone with Everybody was rearranged into a pop anthem with a lot of strings and geradlinigerem scheme. As previously released, and first solo statement from Ashcroft, it reached # 3 on the UK Singles Chart. New York and also C'mon People still come from the Verve Sessions with Simon Tong as a replacement for guitarist Nick McCabe.

New York and Money to Burn are two more rockier tracks, while the rest of the album of gentle, catchy pop hymns ( C'mon People or Crazy World ) and soft ballads such as I Get My Beat or Slow Was My Heart is embossed. Brave New World is also among the very quiet moments of the album and was inspired by Aldous Huxley's Beautiful New World.
