Taxonomy

The first description was made by Boisduval by A. numerica in 1840 referred to a copy of Corsica and the species name was occasionally used incorrectly applied to a moth of the Spanish mainland. More confusion within the genus arose because of the individual authors various forms, geographical races, synonyms or subspecies have been named. Only Zilli, July and Fibiger placed the genus in 2009 in the separate allopatric species Alvaradoia disjecta, Alvaradoia numerica, Alvaradoia deserti and Alvaradoia ornatula.
