Alvaradoia

Alvaradoia disjecta

Alvaradoia is a genus of butterflies of the family of cutworms ( Noctuidae ). The type species of the genus is Alvaradoia numerica ( Boisduval, 1840).

Features

The wingspan of the moth varies 18 to 30 millimeters. The ground color of the forewings is light brown to chestnut brown tints. The transverse lines, and the waves and hem line are white and stand out clearly from the background, but are pronounced differently in different ways. Ring and kidney blemish are outlined in black brown and white. The fringes on the fore wings are alternately spotted brown and white. The visually marked hind wings are gray-brown. The abdomen is very narrow.

Species

The genus Alvaradoia currently includes four species of which occur also two species in Europe. In Germany the species is not represented.

  • Alvaradoia deserti ( Oberthuer, 1918) in north-west Africa
  • Alvaradoia disjecta ( Rothschild, 1920), in eastern Spain and southern France
  • Alvaradoia numerica ( Boisduval ), 1840, in Corsica and Sardinia
  • Alvaradoia ornatula (Christoph, 1887 ) in the west of Turkmenistan
