Alves, Moray

Alves (Gaelic: An Abhais ) is a village in the Scottish unitary authority Moray and capital of the same Parish. It is located near the south shore of the Moray Firth about seven kilometers west of Elgin and 50 kilometers east of Inverness.

The municipality consists of the main village and the hamlets Crook of Alves Alves, Alves North, Wester Alves, Alves Wood and New Alves. In the year 1831 945 inhabitants were counted in Alves. Traffic

The A96, which connects Inverness with Aberdeen, tangent to the village and binds it to to the road network. In the past Alves had its own railway station on the Inverness and Nairn Railway Highland Railway. This was closed in the 1960s. Trains on the Aberdeen to Inverness Line pass through the station today.
