Alvin Stardust

Alvin Stardust (actually Bernard William Jewry, also known as Shane Fenton known, born September 27, 1942 in Muswell Hill, London, UK) is a British rock musician and actor.

Career

As a four year old boy Alvin Stardust enthusiastic for pantomime. In the early 1960s he replaced the late singer Johnny Theakston in the group Shane Fenton & The Fentones that with the single Cindy 's Birthday registered a Top 20 hit in the UK singles chart in June 1962.

In 1965 he became manager and took care of artists such as Lulu or The Hollies. Early 70s Jewry met the producer Peter Shelley. He gave himself the stage name Alvin Stardust and was from 1974 to 1975 one of the most popular stars of the glam-rock scene. The black leather outfit he took over from Dave Berry. Six songs that were written by Peter Shelley, were able to place in the British Top 20. Only in the 80s he was able to record three more hits, including Pretend (1981, written by Nat King Cole ) and written by Mike Batt tribute I Feel Like Buddy Holly (1984 ), the text of which, inter alia, Buddy Holly Raining in my Heart and Paul McCartney Beatles song Yesterday and Paul Simon Homeward Bound relates.

Alvin Stardust participated in musical performances of Godspell and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as an actor. He also had supporting roles in several British television series such as "Hollyoaks " or "The Grimleys ". His son Adam Fenton (born 1971 ) is a famous British drum -and- bass producer.

2007 by him, together with the German rockabilly Wild Black Jets new album ( Rockin 'train / Starfish Music ) published. In 2004 they released the single Boppin 'on a saturday night, which was also played very common in German, Dutch and British radio stations again. Since AS and WBJ tour halfway regularly by German music clubs.
