Amanda Levete

Amanda Levete ( born November 17, 1955 in Bridgend, Wales, UK ) is a British architect who is since 2009 the owner of the architecture firm Amanda Levete Architects ( AL_A ) in London.

Life

Levete studied at the London Architectural Association School of Architecture and worked after graduation at Alsop & Lyall architects YRM and Associates. In 1983 she became a partner at Powis and Levete. From 1984 to 1989 she worked for Richard Rogers, architect Richard Rogers Community Partnership ( Rogers Stirk Harbour Partners ). From 1989 until the death of her partner in January Kaplický in 2008 she was in the Community Future Systems. Since 2009 her own company AL_A.

Levete was married to Kaplický 1991 to 2006 and has a son from this marriage. She is now married (2011 ) to the Director of the London Design Festival, Ben Evans. She is a lecturer at the Royal College of Art in London and on the board of Artangel. Regularly can be heard on radio and television and to see Levete. They also writes articles in the journal Building.
