Amber Star is one developed by the company Thailon software role playing game. It was released in 1992 for the Amiga computer systems, MS- DOS and Atari ST.

Plot and gameplay

This is a classic computer role-playing game in which the player sends out his heroic troops to save the country. Initially, the player moves alone through the country Lyramion, later to join him on up to five other figures.

The graphics of the game follows a similar concept as Dragonflight, that is, all places with a good overview, such as the outdoor levels, be in 2D, all the dungeons are displayed in a 3D graphics.

The fights are about as fought in a battle screen. Here, the player is planning out the features of his figures, which are then executed in the combat round. When a character comes into play depends on the attribute speed.

The magic system is based on the three schools of white, gray and black magic. For each school there is a pure magic character and a magic / martial character.

Reception

For criticism, partly to large dungeons, in which the group of heroes can rest only in a few places attended. In addition, you could get into a playful impasse. Since it can only create one score in the three game discs, you could quickly lose its overall progress in the game for damage to a disc or an accidental overwrite. For further frustration caused the leveling of the game characters. In higher levels can only get a character when you have enough experience points visits their home communities and there undergo appropriate training. To get the problem of the vast country of some measure of control, Thailon had installed a number of means of transport, such as horse, ships or giant eagle.
