American Association (19th century)

The American Association (AA) was an American Major League Baseball sports. The American Association was the predecessor of today's American League and existed from 1882 to 1891. During this decade, American Association and National League fought for supremacy in the American baseball. Seven times it took a team of the American Association participated in a historical form of the World Series. However, only were able to record a victory, the St. Louis Browns in 1886.

  • The St. Louis Browns played from 1885 to 1888 four times in a row in the World Series. The team achieved a win, one draw and two defeats.
  • The Brooklyn Bridegrooms in 1889 lost in the World Series against New York.
  • The Louisville Colonels played in 1890 in the World Series draw against Brooklyn.

Other meanings

  • From 1902 to 1962, 1969 to 1997, there was one AAA minor league, which carried out its gaming operations under the name American Association.
  • Since 2005 exists in the U.S., the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, play in the teams from cities in which neither major nor minor league teams are located.
