Amin Asikainen

Amin Asikainen ( born January 21, 1976 in Kirkkonummi, Finland) is a Finnish professional boxer and former European champion of the EBU middleweight.

Childhood

Amin Asikainen is the son of a Moroccan and a Finn. He first began with six years of football to play but at the age of twelve he decided to still for the boxes.

Amateur

Asikainen played as an amateur 175 fights of which he won 135. It was 1996, 1998 and 1999 Finnish welterweight champion. He participated in the Amateur World Championships 1997 in Budapest, 1999 in Houston and 2001 in Belfast part, but failed each early.

Professional career

In December 2001 Asikainens professional debut took place in Helsinki. In his fourth professional fight, he won the vacant Finnish champion middleweight title. In May 2006, he won the European Championship title against Frenchman Christophe Tendil. A month later he fought against Sebastian Sylvester for the European Championship. Asikainen was victorious in this battle on June 3, 2006 in Hanover technical knockout in the eighth round, becoming the first Finnish European champion in professional boxing since Olli Mäki 1964.

Asikainen defended the European title then twice successfully, for example against Alexander Sipos before it came in Zwickau on 23 June 2007 on the controversial rematch against Sylvester. To pause Gong at the end of the first round him with a left hook effect achieved a goal that had Sylvester seemingly stumble to the ground; a touch of the soil, however, was prevented by the referee, who thus not evaluated these results as a precipitate. On lap seven then Sylvester succeeded a precipitate. Sylvester was again able to hit the ground, which, however, was also not considered by the referee in the eleventh round Asikainen. By the effect of this hit Asikainen, however, was so struck that Sylvester shortly thereafter scored another precipitate, after which the fight was stopped.

After four successful battles, including against Mexican former world champion Luis Ramon Campas, he pushed on 28 November 2008 in Helsinki again to the European title, who had meanwhile been laid down by Sylvester in favor of a world championship fight. As an opponent to fight for the vacant belt of standing at the Hamburg based Universum boxing stable under contract Armenians Khoren maneuver was determined by the EBU. Already in the first round had Asikainen to the ground and after a further precipitation in the seventh round his corner finally threw in the towel, what Asikainen defeated by technical knockout meant.

After a points victory over a structure opponents Asikainen boxed on 25 September 2009 against Matthew Macklin for the vacant European title. After two knockdowns in the first round Asikainen was taken after 2:34 minutes of the fight. It was his bitterest and hardest so far defeat.

After two consecutive knockout wins against Dario Matorras ( 12-0 ) and Jaudiel Zepeda (12-3 ), he was again able to fight for championship at super middleweight on March 4, 2011. However, it he lost t.K.o. in the eleventh round tie against Poland Piotr Wilczewski (28-1 ).
