Amon G. Carter

Amon Giles Carter, Sr. ( born December 11, 1879 in Crafton, Wise County, Texas, † June 23, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas) was an American newspaper publisher. The founder and editor of the daily Fort Worth Star-Telegram was a patron of the Texan city Fort Worth.

1928 Carter donated the funds for the construction of the Football Stadium Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.

This opened in 1961 Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth goes back to a legacy in his will. The museum houses, among other things, Carter's collection of paintings and sculptures of the " Western " artist Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell.

Carter is on the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery buried in Fort Worth.
