Amursk

Amursk (Russian Амурск ) is a town in Khabarovsk (Russia) with 42 970 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the middle Amurniederung, about 230 km north of the regional capital of Khabarovsk on several left branches of the River Amur ( Stary Amur, ie age Amur, Padalinskaja, Galbon ). To the west lies the Padalisee.

The city is Amursk the Republic administratively subordinated directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

History

The present city was built Amursk since the 1950s, when in the vicinity of the settlement nanaischen Padali (named after the nearby lake, nanaisch for dehydration ) a cellulose plant was built. However, the official date is June 19, 1958, when the settlement was granted status of urban type. In 1973, the site of a town.

Culture and sights

Amursk has a local history museum since 1972. In the city there is a botanical garden.

Economy and infrastructure

In addition to the pulp and paper plant there in Amursk and around other companies in the chemical and wood processing industry and mechanical engineering.

From the station Mylki the railway line ( Khabarovsk - ) Wolotschajewka - Dsemgi ( - Komsomolsk-on- Amur ) branches off a branch line to Amursk from (only freight). There is also a road connection to the Situated 45 kilometers north of Komsomolsk -on-Amur.
