Amy Sillman

Amy Sillman (born 1954 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American painter.

Life

Sillman worked in a cannery in Alaska and a feminist screen printing plant in Chicago before studying at New York University to work as a translator for the Japanese language at the United Nations. Then she began to study at the School of Visual Arts in Rose Hill, from which she graduated in 1979.

In the following years she worked as an independent painter.

Silman obtained in 1995 a Master of Fine Arts ( MFA) at Bard College. In the years that she has been awarded several scholarships, presented simultaneously in the U.S. and in galleries abroad.
